In today’s printing market it can be very hard to find a good balance of reasonable  pricing and quality when choosing a printing company to handle your companies printing needs. This post will outline some of the basic things to look at along with some basic questions to ask your prospective printing company when making decisions. I hope you find thus useful and it provides you the basic knowledge you need to have a successful print buying experience. If you have any unanswered question after reading this post please fell free to give us a call at (512) 501-6324 and we will be happy to help.

Let’s start using business cards as an example. As explained in our previous post about business cards, they are your 1st impression to a prospective customer. Always keep that in mind when weighing price and quality. There are many different printing techniques available for business cards such as thermography, foil embossing, and full color digital offset. Let’s use full color offset printing for our discussion. There are places online where you can order one thousand full color business cards for around $30.00 + shipping. This is a good price I agree. Now we need to find out the specifics to see how good of a deal it really is by weighing price and quality. What kind of paper stock are the business cards printed on? Business cards should not be printed on anything lighter than 14pt cover stock, preferably 16pt. What you find in most of the places online is that they are printed on 12pt or less. Does your company require certain Pantone colors be matched exactly for their logo and marketing materials. If so than it is very important for you to ask your prospective printing company if they provide Pantone matching services. most online printing companies do not and you definitely will not get Pantone matching for $30.00. If you do not need Pantone matching services make sure your printer uses the industry standard of acceptable color for digital offset printing. Next thing to ask is if they guarantee the cutting of the business cards. Business cards do get cut unevenly sometimes because of a malfunction in the slitter. just make sure if this happens they will reprint at no charge. There is nothing worse than a crooked business card.

That is all the time I have for today but we will continue this discussion with a Part 2 soon!

Door hangers are a great way to advertise home services, restuarants, and other services to residential customers. The prospective customer is going to see the door hanger as soon as they come in the door. Will everyone take the time to see what it says? NO, but over 50% do take the time to at least briefly look the door hanger over. How do you get the door hangers distributed? At 1st Choice Print & Sign we have partnered with a local flyer distribution company that can distribute them by neighborhood, zip code, apartment complex, and more. Door hanger distribution is usually around $0.15 ea. Can be lower with larger quantities. We can complete a complete campaign of 10,000 door hangers w/ distribution for around $2300.00 depending on distribution area. Door hangers are a great local alternative to direct mailing campaigns because the distribution fee is less expensive than postage. You can get an instant quote on door hanger printing at our Online Print Center at http://1stchoiceprintsign.interfirm.com/g/uploadDoorHanger.do.

A business card is your customer’s first impression of your company. If your business cards are not professional and appropriate for your industry your prospective customer is not going to walk away with a great first impression. Besides looking professional your business cards also need to be industry appropriate. For instance if you are a graphic designer you may want a colorful creative business card to convey creativity to your prospective customers. If you are a lawyer you may choose to go with a linen or classic crest paper with raised lettering (thermography) and possibly even embossed or foil stamped. This type of business card screams professional to your clients. As with all business expenditures cost is usually a large concern especially in our current economy. Business Cards start at around $50 for 1000 full color digitally offset printed cards on 14pt – 16pt stock or 500 one color thermography on raglan paper stock. Foil stamped and embossed cards come at a premium price but are very impressive to clients. these can range anywhere from $100 – $400 per 500.  When ordering business cards you want to be sure to clarify all the details with the printing company. Never have business cards printed on anything less than a 14 pt card stock when dealing with full color. The 12pt card stock that a lot of printers use is too flimsy and looks and feels cheap. Not the impression you want to give prospective customers. Please call us at (512) 501-6324 if you have any questions about business cards or any other printed marketing materials. You can find options and pricing online at the 1st Choice Online Print Center! Call and speak with a sales rep for info on business cards with thermography, embossing, or foil stamping.

Direct mail marketing can be a great way to advertise your companies products and services locally or nationwide. We provide targeted mailing lists from Info USA along with printing, data processing, and mailing services. We make Direct mail campaigns a breeze. That’s our job! It’s what we do!

Things to consider when planning a direct mail campaign!

  1. Print Product (postcard, brochure, or sales letter)
  2. Marketing Area (city, state, nationwide)
  3. Target Customer Demographics (age, income, profession, ethnicity, religion, gender, ect.)
  4. Advertisement Message (message you want to convey to potential customers)

We have just completed a successful local campaign for Mark West. Mark is a local Austin insurance agent looking to get more calls coming in to free up some time he has spending on cold calling prospective clients. We sat down and narrowed down his mailing list to 1000 homes that fit his perfect customer criteria like income level, age, value of home, and so on.  For a total cost of $750 he will receive a great return on his marketing investment considering he can easily make that on one sale. That’s what you call efficient advertising.

If you need help with making any of these decisions and would like to speak with an experienced direct mail marketing professional call 1st Choice Print & Sign at (512) 501-6324. We can help! Visit our website at http://www.1stchoiceprintsign.com
